The Calgary desk
The HighOnCity Calgary desk covers city news and public decisions, transit and getting around, neighbourhoods, events, food and drink, and culture — plus a daily brief on what the day looks like across the city.
We work from primary sources where we can: municipal and provincial releases, agendas and public records, police and fire statements, transit advisories, and public data. Where community discussion raises something, we treat it as a question to check rather than a fact to repeat.
Where a question central to a story has not been answered publicly, we put it directly to the organisation involved and publish what we are told — or that we were told nothing.
