The Canada Revenue Agency started sending one-time supplemental GST/HST credit payments on June 5, with eligible Canadians set to receive up to $717 depending on family situation. If yours hasn't landed, here's what might be going on.
To qualify, you needed to be eligible for the regular GST/HST credit as of January 2026—intended for individuals and families with low to modest incomes. If your net family income exceeds the CRA's thresholds, you don't qualify.
The CRA calculates eligibility and payment amount based on your 2024 tax return. If you haven't filed yet, that's likely why nothing has arrived. Your spouse or common-law partner needs to have filed as well.
Payments can take up to 10 business days to appear after being issued. For couples, the CRA sends the payment to one person on behalf of the household, so check whether your partner received it instead. If you owed money to the CRA, the agency may have applied the payment to your existing balance rather than depositing it into your account. Make sure your direct deposit information and contact details are current on the CRA website.
This one-time payment bridges the gap until the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit launches in July 2026 with higher amounts.
