Loblaw Companies Limited has recalled President's Choice English-Style Gingersnap Cookies across Canada due to the presence of metal wire in the product.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency announced the recall Thursday. The affected product comes in a 350-gram box with universal product code 0 60383 76819 5 and has best-before dates of February 8, 2027 and March 14, 2027. The product is sold at Loblaw locations nationwide.
The CFIA has classified this as a class 2 recall, meaning there is a moderate risk that consuming the food may lead to short-term or non-life-threatening health problems. "Do not use, sell, serve, or distribute the affected product," the agency stated.
Canadians who have purchased the affected cookies should not consume them. For public enquiries, the CFIA can be reached at information@inspection.gc.ca or 1 (613) 773-2342. Health or safety concerns can be reported online at the CFIA website.
This recall is part of a broader pattern of food safety issues in recent days. Loblaw recalled seafood products Tuesday over an undeclared allergen, a hot pepper paste was recalled for undeclared wheat, and the So Delicious Dairy-Free Salted Caramel frozen dessert was recalled for potential plastic-like and gravel-like pieces.
