Rainy Monday settles in—Calgary, June 1st.

Good morning. It's a damp start to the week—7°C and light rain already moving through, so grab an umbrella before you head out. That rainfall warning Environment Canada flagged is still in effect; we're looking at wet conditions holding through the week, so if you got caught in yesterday's rain, today's more of the same. Light holds till 9:41 PM though, so you'll have plenty of evening to work with even if the sky stays grey. UV's low at 2.0, so sunscreen isn't a worry—just dress in layers and stay dry.

If you're commuting in this morning, give yourself extra time. Macleod Trail northbound is seeing traffic, and the QE2's backed up with slowdowns. Keep an eye on the Foothills road conditions if you're heading that way; the roads are wet and slower than usual on a Monday anyway. Deerfoot's probably going to feel it too, so if you've got flexibility, leave a few minutes earlier than you normally would.

There's a few things worth knowing around town. A warehouse fire's erupted in the Mount Royal area—not sure what that means for your neighbourhood, but it's worth keeping tabs on the local news if you're nearby. On a lighter note, there's a music program called StillMe that's helping seniors reconnect with themselves through songs, which is a nice story if you're looking for something hopeful this week. Photo radar's also rolling into 17 Calgary neighbourhoods starting now, so if you drive regularly, it's worth knowing where those are.

For food today, skip the patio idea—this rain calls for something warm and cozy. A new Polynesian cocktail bar just opened in Kensington if you want to warm up indoors with a drink later, and if you've got Filipino food on the brain, Ube Fest is celebrating that staple right now. Eight restaurant's ranked second best in North America if you want to treat yourself to something special, though heads up that Calgary's dining scene is shifting—a few spots are closing soon, so if there's a place you've been meaning to hit, don't sleep on it.

Tonight's a good night to stay in. "Come From Away" is playing if you want to catch a show, or you could just settle in for something cozy on the stream—this weather's made for that. Rain's going to stick around through the week, so get comfortable.

Stay warm and dry out there.
