Monday's mild — catch the evening light while it lasts.

It's a proper soft Monday morning — 15°C, mostly cloudy, and you've got nearly 17 hours of daylight to work with. The UV's running high at 8.0, so even on a cloudy day like this, sunscreen's worth the five seconds. Sunset doesn't hit until 9:53 p.m., so if you're planning an evening walk or patio dinner, you've got time. Nothing like June in Calgary.

Commute should move fine — no word of major disruptions on the roads this morning, so you're clear to take your usual route.

On the actual news side, there's some real stuff moving. Blackfoot leaders have been rallying at Confluence pushing for Treaty recognition, and there's an Alberta separatism vote coming in October that's got people talking, especially around the pension question. Neither's burning your Monday, but worth knowing what's in the air.

If you're thinking lunch, A&W's brought back root beer floats for the summer — a bit of nostalgia on a soft day like this. If you're wanting something fancier, Choux & C just opened in Marda Loop with French pastry, which is exactly the kind of thing that lands well on a Monday when you need a little lift. And with the spring rains easing up, patios are starting to feel like an actual option again — Calgary bars have been buzzing with it.

Tonight's one of those quiet Mondays where you're not missing much on the live front, but Come From Away is on at the theatre if you're thinking ahead to the weekend. It's the kind of show that'll still be there if you want to book it.

It's a decent start to the week — mild, plenty of daylight, nothing blocking your path. Get out if you can.
