Tuesday cool-down hits—watch the ramps on your commute.
Cooler than lately. Road work's blocking some key exits. Shake Shack's coming this fall.
Morning's sitting at 6°C after the warmer stretch we've had, so throw a layer on if you're heading out early. It's mainly sunny and staying dry, which is solid—the UV's running high at 7.0, so if you're outside at lunch, sunscreen still matters even when it feels crisp. You've got until nearly 10 p.m. to work with tonight, so there's real daylight left if you're thinking of bailing early.
Commute heads-up: Stoney Trail's getting a workout today. The ramp from Stoney eastbound to Highway 2 southbound is completely closed for construction—you'll need to follow local detours if that's your usual way out of the NW. Same story on the ramp from Stoney westbound to Deerfoot southbound, also shut down for paving. Add some buffer time if you're heading that direction. There's also a traffic incident on Tsuut'ina Trail northbound near 90 Avenue SW with all shoulders closed, so emergency crews are working there—steer clear if you can.
On the Alberta front, the province just scrapped a liquor price hike that's only been in effect for two weeks. If you've noticed the sting at the bottle shop, that's what's shifting. There's also some real stuff happening with the provincial flag and what it's becoming as a political symbol—worth reading into if you're paying attention to what's brewing politically.
If you're thinking food, Native Tongues Taqueria's opening in Bridgeland soon, which is good news if that's your neighbourhood or you're looking for a new spot. And if you're the drive-thru type, Shake Shack's bringing Canada's first drive-thru location to Cowtown this fall—one to watch.
Tonight's pretty quiet unless you're heading to the Chestermere High School Class of 2026 convocation at the Jubilee Auditorium at 7 p.m. Otherwise it's a solid work night—stay in, catch up on something, or get outside while there's still light. This weekend's got Come From Away hitting the stage Friday and Wednesday, and Country Thunder kicks off Thursday if you're looking ahead.
Stay warm out there.
