Friday heat, smoke rolling in, and live music all night.

Morning. It's 16 degrees and climbing toward a genuinely warm Friday—we're back to decent weather after a cooler stretch. Partly cloudy, high UV at 7.0, so if you're spending time outside, sunscreen isn't optional. You've got until 9:53 PM to work with, which means almost 16 and a half hours of daylight. Plan accordingly.

One heads-up before you head out: Saskatchewan wildfires are sending smoke into Calgary today and it'll stick around through Monday. That means the air quality's going to degrade as the day goes on—check the readings before you commit to outdoor plans, especially if you're sensitive to smoke. It's not a full shutdown, but it's worth paying attention to.

Road-wise, keep an eye on foothills conditions if you're heading west toward the mountains this weekend. Nothing's closed that I'm aware of, but the usual spring slowdowns apply—just be steady.

Locally, there's some real movement happening. A brand new downtown substation opened this week, replacing the original facility from 1912—a full century of infrastructure getting its refresh. And if you've been following energy news, Alberta's floating a massive proposal for a pipeline project to the West Coast, talking $35 to $43 billion. Big stuff.

On the food front, if you're looking for dinner tonight, Revelwoods Tavern & Terrace just opened in the southeast with Southern comfort food and cocktails—worth a shot if that's your lane. There's also a new Parisian-style café downtown doing fresh pastries if you want something lighter. And if you're headed to the Stampede this weekend, the food game's expanded beyond the midway—premium dining and chef showcases are in the mix now.

Tonight's the real show. The Stampeders absolutely demolished Toronto last week (58-36, Vernon Adams Jr. was unreal), and the Stampede rodeo kicks off the full weekend run at GMC Stadium at 1:30 PM. But music is the move tonight. Jimmy Eat World's headlining at Spruce Meadows—perfect Friday nostalgia energy. If that's not your vibe, Nashville North opens at Stampede Park at 5, or there's a full Cowboys Music Festival starting at 6 over at Cowboys Park (18+ for that one). Badlands is also running Isoxo at 6 if you want something different. Live music all over town, basically.

Weather's on your side for outdoor venues—bring a layer for later when it cools off, but you're golden for the evening.

Get out there. See you around.
