Friday festival kicks — pick your night and go.
Stampede rodeo chaos, live music everywhere, and 16 hours of daylight to burn.
It's Friday and the city's humming. We're sitting at 14°C with partly cloudy skies, which means you can absolutely get outside without overthinking it. UV's running high at 8.0, so if you're catching the rodeo or heading to any of tonight's shows, grab some sunscreen and you're golden. Sunset doesn't come until 9:49 PM, so you've got a proper summer evening ahead of you.
Roads are looking normal this morning, so your commute should move fine.
Stampede season has been wild. Yesterday's saddle bronc competition ended in a three-way tie—total chaos in the best way—and last night the Surge took down the Bandits at the Dome in their Surge2Stampede celebration game. If you missed it, that's the kind of energy the city's running on right now.
If you're hungry, the Stampede's got all the usual suspects out. Milk & Cookies Shack has been slinging simple classics for over 20 years, and there's fresh handcrafted desserts at Cannoli Cowboy if you want to treat yourself. Fair warning though: those little donuts at Chinook Station? People are saying they're not what they used to be. Fair critique.
Tonight is genuinely stacked if you want to get out. The Stampede's got Nashville North firing up at 5:00 PM over at Stampede Park—that's your country-music-and-crowds vibe. If you're after live indie, grandson's playing the National Saloon at 6:00, and Matt Mays is over at the Wildhorse Saloon same time. There's also the Badlands Music Festival kicking off at 6:00 PM if you want that tent-festival atmosphere. All of it's doable in daylight or twilight, and you won't be wrapping up in the dark.
If you're staying in, Oxford STOMP 2026 is happening at Prince's Island Park at 3:00 PM this afternoon—that's a good one if you want something a bit more low-key and daytime-friendly.
This is the kind of Friday where you can actually make plans and not regret them. The weather's cooperating, the city's got something for every mood, and you've got actual evening left after work ends. Grab it while it's here.
Have a good one out there.
