Clear skies, live action, and a new spot for arepas—Saturday's sorted.

Morning. It's a clean Saturday—13°C, clear skies, and you're looking at a solid 14 hours and 59 minutes of daylight, which means you've got room to move. The sun won't dip until 9:11 PM, so plan your evening accordingly. UV's running high at 7.0, so if you're heading outside for any stretch, throw the sunscreen on.

Road-wise, keep an eye on the foothills if you're heading that way—check the cameras before you go. Nothing major blocking the city itself, so you're good to move around town.

Couple of things worth knowing. Calgary Fire's flagged a real hazard this week: lithium-ion batteries have sparked three fires in 24 hours, so if you've got loose chargers, power banks, or old devices lying around, take that seriously. Also, Eighth Street's entering the next phase of its revitalization—there'll be sidewalk work through September, so if you're in that corridor regularly, expect some bustle and plan around it.

Food-wise, you've got options. Arepa Boss just opened their first brick-and-mortar in Marda Loop after years working the market circuit, so if you've been tracking them down at local spots, you know where to find them now. If you're thinking hot pot, Happy Lamb's marking 20 years this weekend with a special running through the 10th—good excuse to go. And if you want to explore, Alberta on the Plate's back and running through a 10-day dine festival with over 40 Calgary restaurants in on it.

One heads-up on groceries: Costco's pulled Alfa Croissants nationwide over a potential mould contamination, so check your freezer if you've grabbed a box recently.

For tonight, you've got options depending on your vibe. World Supercross is at McMahon Stadium at 6:00 PM—proper high-octane motorsports, the kind of thing that fills a stadium. If you're leaning comedy, Dino Archie's at The Laugh Shop at 8:00 PM. Or if you want to ease into the evening with live music and a crowd, Commonwealth Bar's running Common Saturdays at 10:00 PM, and it's free if you RSVP.

Weather's holding all day and into the evening, so whatever you pick, you won't be fighting the elements. Get out there.
