Monday Clear & Cool — Watch the Stoney, Catch Some Alt Rock Tonight

Morning's crisp at 13 and mainly clear — pull on a layer if you're heading out early, but the UV's running high at 6.0, so sunscreen's still doing work. You've got a solid fourteen-and-a-half hours of daylight, and the sun won't drop until 8:54 tonight, so there's real time in the day.

Commute heads-up: there's a disabled vehicle parked on the Stoney Trail northbound near Peigan, and the shoulders are all closed while crews sort it. Traffic's backed up through there, so if that's your route in, budget extra time or find another way. Drive careful — emergency crews are still on scene.

Few things on the local radar. A one-year-old grizzly named Fitz got out of the Calgary Zoo enclosure over the weekend, but they've already got him back safe. Also worth knowing — police are looking for a 22-year-old named Devontae Traverse in connection with an assault in the Beltline that put three men in hospital. And there's a missing persons search underway for a 77-year-old named Gregory, last seen in the Cityscape area back on Friday. If you see anything, the tip line's always there.

Food-wise, there's some new openings rolling in this week — Prado Coffee just landed in Britannia Plaza if you're after a solid specialty cafe, and Mount Pleasant Vintage, a Vancouver bar-and-thrift hybrid, just opened in the Beltline if you want to hunt vinyl and grab a drink. Quick head's up on groceries too: there's a recall on some Greek yogurt at Costco over potential mould, so check what you've got at home.

Tonight, if you're feeling it, there's an alt-metal show at Dickens Pub at seven — Malevolence with Serration and Awaywithroses. Indoor, warm beer, loud guitars. It's a decent Monday move if you want to shake off the week's start. Otherwise, the clear evening's begging for a walk — you've got light until nearly nine.

Start the week tight. See you around.
