Thursday's mild — pick your show and roll.
13 degrees, mostly cloudy, and three solid live acts tonight. Get out or stay in — either way, you're sorted.
Morning's looking pretty gentle at 13°C and mostly cloudy, so layer up light if you're heading out. UV's low at 2.0, so you're not getting torched by the sun today. Sunset's not until 8:02 PM, so you've got a full 13 hours of daylight to work with — plenty of time to get things done and still make an evening of it if you want.
No major road headaches this morning, so your commute should move like normal. Check conditions on the Foothills routes if you're heading that way, but nothing's shut down on you today.
Couple things worth knowing: About 40 folks showed up to protest a data centre conference in town yesterday over energy and environmental concerns — it's the kind of conversation Calgary keeps having as the city keeps changing. Also, there's a man facing charges after threatening to shoot a customer at the Woodbine Safeway, which is heavy stuff but not something hitting your day directly.
If you're eating out, An Sang just opened up on the Red Mile bringing proper Vietnamese breakfast culture to the neighborhood — worth a walk over if you're craving something different. Feast on Fourth's also happening this month with $10 dishes from 16 restaurants on 4th Street, so that's a solid date night or casual bite option. Fair warning: Sorella Trattoria in Crescent Heights just closed after four years, so if you were planning to hit them up for fresh pasta and Italian small plates, that ship has sailed.
Tonight's got three proper shows if you want to get out. Orchestra FILMharmonique is playing *The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King* in concert at the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium at 7:30 PM — that's a full orchestral experience with the film, the kind of thing that fills a room. The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus is at Pawn Shop Live (used to be Union Hall) at 7:30 too if you're leaning harder rock. And if you want hip-hop energy, there's a Michael Mathers Ultimate Eminem Tribute at Grey Eagle at 8:00 PM. Pick your vibe and lock it in — it's a good night for live music in this city.
Stay warm out there. See you on the other side.
