Tuesday's cool and cloudy — settle in for the day ahead.
A 7-degree start, some food news worth knowing, and Broadway tonight if you're keen.
Morning's sitting at 7 degrees and mostly cloudy, so you'll want a jacket out the door. It's not a chinook day — just a straight fall Tuesday. You've got a solid 12 hours and 40 minutes of daylight, and the sun's down by 7:51 PM, so plan your evening plans around that if you're heading out.
Nothing major on the roads this morning, so your commute should move the way it usually does. Worth checking the Foothills cameras if you're heading that way later — conditions can shift quick once you get closer to the mountains, but nothing's flagged as a problem right now.
A couple of things worth knowing in town: cops wrapped up a three-month trafficking investigation and pulled in $88K in drugs, cash and firearms across multiple busts. Two separate operations netted cocaine, more firearms, and over $46K in seized cash. Not the kind of news that changes your day, but it's the kind of thing C-town deals with. There's also a story brewing downtown — a Beltline pub owner's fired up about the proposed Green Line at-grade alignment and rolled out a tongue-in-cheek beer called 'Death Sentence' to make his point. If you've been following that whole Green Line conversation, that's the latest shot across the bow.
On the brighter side, Flair Airlines just locked in a 15-year engine maintenance deal with Lufthansa Technik Calgary, which is solid news for the local aviation scene and YYC jobs.
Food-wise, if you're hunting a new spot: An Sang has opened on the Red Mile and is bringing proper Vietnamese breakfast culture to the neighbourhood, which is worth checking out. Revelwoods Tavern just landed in the old Bookers space in the southeast and is doing Southern comfort food. If you want to try a bunch of spots cheaply, Feast on Fourth kicks off this month with $10 dishes from 16 restaurants on 4th Street — that's a solid way to make a Tuesday night feel special.
Tonight's a Broadway kind of night if that's your vibe: & Juliet kicks off a three-night run at the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium at 7:30 PM. It's a touring production, so if you've been waiting to catch it, now's the window.
Get out there. See you around town.
