Cool Wednesday ahead—concerts tonight, new spots to try.

Morning's sitting at 5°C with cloud cover, so layer up for the commute if you're heading out early. UV's at 3, so you're not getting burned, but if you're catching an afternoon walk—Bowness Park's always a solid move on a day like this—the sun's still worth respecting. We've got nearly 12 hours of daylight, which means there's time to move if you want it.

Road-wise, things are tracking normal for a Wednesday. Worth checking the foothills cameras if you're heading that way for anything, but nothing's jumping out as a major headache this morning.

Couple of things worth knowing as we roll through the week: the city's working on temporary memorial signage this fall at the old St. Dunstan's residential school site—part of the ongoing reckoning with that history. Separately, council's eyeing property taxes that could jump 15% next year; they're wrestling with the city's costs, so that conversation's heating up.

If you're thinking dinner, there's movement on the restaurant front. A few spots are closing—Yellow Door Bistro, Weaselhead, Koko, and Ricardo's Hideaway among them—but the opening side's busier. iQ Food Co just landed at The Core, Tony Roma's is back in town, and if you're craving Ukrainian home cooking done right, Dnipro Village opened in McKenzie Towne with handmade pierogi that's worth the trip. Over The Top Pop Shop also just opened their first Calgary spot on Crowfoot this week if you're into that scene. Haven Lobby Bar's got a solid dinner-for-two option if you want to stay close to downtown.

Tonight's yours to shape. You've got two concert options both kicking at 8 p.m.—Enter Shikari's bringing their alt-rock energy to The Palace Theatre, and Default's running their "Fallout" 25th Anniversary Tour over at Grey Eagle. Either one's a proper work-night move since they start right at 8, leaving you time to grab food after if you want it. Both are indoor, so the cool weather's your friend.
