Fall teeth—it's a chilly one, and the Flames are home tonight.
Zero degrees, clear skies, and a full evening ahead if you've got the energy.
Alright, we've dropped. It's hovering right at freezing this morning, mainly clear skies, and you're looking at a solid UV of 3.0—so sunscreen if you're out at lunch. Sun's down by 7:14 PM, so plan your evening accordingly.
Roads are looking decent, but keep an eye on the foothills if you're heading out that way later.
A couple things worth knowing as you move through the day: the province just extended that $100 affordability rebate deadline to the end of the month as they prioritize the fuel tax cut. Also, if you're on the blue cart recycling kick, it's getting expanded come Wednesday—aerosols, tubes, foam, and flexible packaging are all in now. Worth knowing for next week's sort.
There's a missing person alert out for a 73-year-old man last seen at South Health Campus in the SE. Keep an eye open if you're down that way.
On the food front, couple spots have shut their doors—Yellow Door Bistro, Weaselhead, Koko, and Ricardo's Hideaway are done—but there's new blood moving in too. iQ Food Co just landed at The Core, Tony Roma's is back, and if Ukrainian home cooking sounds right, Dnipro Village opened up in McKenzie Towne with handmade pierogi. Over The Top Pop Shop also just opened their first Calgary spot on Crowfoot if you're after a sweet treat.
Tonight's got legs if you're not ready to call it. The Flames are home at the Saddledome against Seattle at 7:00 PM—good chance to catch them on a work night. If hockey's not your speed, Josh Wolf's at The Laugh Shop at 8:00 PM, or you can dance into the night with DJ Assault spinning at The Arrowhead at 9:00 or over at Common/UNDRGRND at 10:00. Take your pick.
It's a regular Thursday, but the cold's a bit of a reminder that we're properly into fall now. Layer up if you're heading out for the game or the evening.
