Friday light and live music—get out tonight.

It's 7 degrees and partly cloudy this morning—grab a layer if you're heading out early, but you won't need much. UV's at 3, so sunscreen's optional unless you're out there all day. Sun dips at 7:12 tonight, so you've got a proper evening window.

Road-wise, keep an eye on foothills conditions if you're heading west toward the mountains or COP this weekend—nothing reported as closed right now, but it's worth checking the cameras before you head out.

On the heavier side: a man's been sentenced to 11.5 years for luring and sexually assaulting Calgary girls on Snapchat. It's the kind of story that hits different when it lands in your own city. Also worth knowing—a court in Alberta upheld the conviction of two of the Coutts blockade leaders.

If you're thinking dinner, be aware that four cases of E. coli got traced back to Kinjo Mahogany in September, so you'll want to skip that one for now. On the flip side, Tipsie just opened in that iconic Kensington wine bar space with chef-driven small plates if you're after something new. iQ Food Co is also open at The Core, and Tony Roma's is back in town if you're in the mood for that. Fair warning though—Yellow Door Bistro, Weaselhead, Koko, and Ricardo's Hideaway are all closing, so if those were your spots, get in while you can.

Tonight's got real options depending on your mood. The Calgary Wranglers are playing the Abbotsford Canucks at the Saddledome at 7 p.m.—solid way to start a Friday if hockey's your thing. If you're after live music, Dune Rats are at Modern Love at 5 p.m., and there's LØLØ at Commonwealth Bar at 6 p.m. (or the 18+ version with LOLO at 7 if that's your crowd). Want to laugh instead? Josh Wolf's at The Laugh Shop at 7 p.m.

It's Friday—the weekend's actually here. Whether you're catching puck, live bands, or comedy, you've got the light and the time to make it happen.

See you out there.
