Monday warmth, two sounds tonight, and your blue cart just got smarter

Morning's sitting at 16°C and mostly cloudy, which means you can skip the heavy layer for the commute but hang onto a sweater for later. Sun's down by 7:05, so if you're heading anywhere after work, clock that in. UV's at 3, so you're fine on the sunscreen front — nothing unusual there.

Road-wise, nothing's jumping out as a major headache this morning. Keep an eye on the foothills if you're heading that way; conditions can shift quick out there.

Couple of things worth knowing today: the city's blue cart program just got an upgrade — you can now toss in toothpaste tubes, aerosols, and foam packaging alongside what you were already recycling. Small shift, but it cleans up what you've got sitting around the house. Also, yesterday hundreds turned out on Stephen Avenue for the Sisters in Spirit Vigil, honouring missing and murdered Indigenous women — a powerful turnout and a reminder of what matters in Cowtown.

If you're thinking lunch or dinner, tread carefully around Kinjo Mahogany in the meantime. Four cases of E. coli have been traced back to a meal on September 18, so that one's worth steering clear of for a bit. On the flip side, Tipsie just opened in that iconic wine bar space over in Kensington — chef-driven small plates if you're in the mood for something new. And if you've been waiting on Tony Roma's to come back, it's landed at The Core. Fair warning though: Yellow Door Bistro, Weaselhead, Koko, and Ricardo's Hideaway are all closing, so if you've got a spot you love there, get in while you can.

Tonight's got two live options pulling in different directions. Sabaton's playing Grey Eagle with Pop Evil and Wings of Steel — this was rescheduled from April, so if you've been waiting, here's your shot. It kicks at 7. If metal's not your thing, MICO's at Jack Singer for something more experimental, also at 8. Both are indoor, which is perfect given the clouds and the cool evening ahead.

Mondaywell begun — get sorted out there.
