Mild Thursday ahead—grab the Flames tonight, watch the foothills.

Morning. We're sitting at four degrees under mainly clear skies—dress in layers and you'll be fine. UV's low, so no burn risk, but that's not really the worry today. Sun's down by 6:59 PM, so if you're heading out tonight, plan around that. There's a Special Weather Statement in effect, so keep an eye on conditions, especially if you're heading toward the foothills or the mountains.

Roads look manageable this morning. Check the foothills cameras and conditions if you're heading west, but nothing's jumping out as a major headache on the commute.

On the local front: Mayor Farkas is saying the premier's committed to keeping next year's property tax hike smaller than expected—something to keep an eye on as the city budget comes into focus. And if you've been to Kinjo Mahogany in the past month, there's a food safety alert worth knowing about. Four confirmed E. coli cases have been traced to a meal from September 18, so if you were there around that date and aren't feeling great, that's worth looking into.

If you're thinking about where to eat, Tipsie just opened in that iconic Kensington wine bar spot—chef-driven small plates, which is a solid move for the neighbourhood. The food scene's shifting a bit; Yellow Door Bistro, Weaselhead, Koko, and Ricardo's Hideaway are all closing, but there's life on the other side—iQ Food Co just opened at The Core, and Tony Roma's is back in the mix if you're into that.

Tonight's got some real options. The Flames are home at the Saddledome at 7:00 PM taking on Colorado—if you want a solid work-night game and you can slip out early, that's the call. Weather's clear, so no weather delays or headaches getting there. If live music's more your speed, there's metal happening tonight: Nekrogoblikon with Rivers of Nihil and Cyborg Octopus at the Palace Theatre, or Geoff Tate over at Grey Eagle if you want something different. Both venues are warm indoors, which works for a night like this.

It's a Thursday, so it's one of those pick-your-vibe nights. Hockey's the marquee, but there's solid alternatives if you want to mix it up. Sunset's at 6:59, so if you're heading anywhere outside, get there before dusk or bring a light.

Stay warm out there. See you tonight.
