Saturday's getting crisp—bundle up, then get out.
It's chilly and mostly cloudy. Tonight's packed with live music, comedy, and hockey if you're in the mood.
Two degrees this morning, so grab a proper jacket before you head out. It's a shift from what we've had lately—that chinook warmth is gone. Mostly cloudy overhead, UV's low, and you've got just over eleven hours of daylight to work with. Sunset's at 6:54, so plan your evening around that if you're heading outdoors. There's a weather alert in effect, so check the details before you leave—especially if you're thinking of heading toward the foothills.
Road-wise, keep an eye on foothills conditions if that's where you're headed. Nothing major blocking the main routes through town this morning.
A couple things worth knowing: a provincial dressage champion, Clark, died in a highway crash Thursday while heading to nationals—rough news for the whole community. On a brighter note, that new $22-million pedestrian bridge connecting Bridgeland and St. Patrick's Island is under construction and should open in 2028, which'll be a nice link when it's done.
If you're hungry, Deerhead Cafe's been having a moment after the family reached out about some financial pressure. They got a huge outpouring of support and yesterday's Saturday traffic was record-breaking, so expect it to be busy again today if you head over. Craft Beer Market just opened a new spot at Shepard Flats with a revamped chef-driven menu if you want to scope that out. Tipsie opened recently in that iconic Kensington wine bar space and they're doing small plates—worth a look if you're in the mood for something new. Fair warning though: there were four confirmed E. coli cases traced to Kinjo Mahogany from a September 18 meal, so maybe give that one a miss for now.
Tonight's got options if you're restless. There's live comedy at The Laugh Shop with Jason Cheny doing sets at 6:00 and 8:30. If you want something heavier, Silly Goose with Cheem is at Modern Love at 6:00, and Tã©A G Bossy's got an EP release party at Pawn Shop Live at 7:00. Or stick to hockey—Brooks Bandits are heading to Okotoks to take on the Oilers at 7:05 at Viking Rentals Centre if you want to catch some junior action.
It's a Saturday worth getting out for, even if it's cold. Bundle up, pick your vibe, and make something of it.
Stay warm out there.
