Clear skies and a crisp Sunday—plenty to do before dark.
Two degrees, full daylight until 6:37 PM, and three solid ways to spend your evening.
It's a proper fall Sunday out there—clear, cold at 2°C, and you've got a full ten and a half hours of daylight to work with. UV's low, so you're not worrying about sunscreen, but layer up if you're heading out. The sun drops at 6:37, so time your outdoor plans accordingly if that matters to you.
If you're driving out of town toward the foothills today, keep an eye on road conditions—nothing major flagged yet, but the Foothills roads can shift fast this time of year. Nothing showing on the Deerfoot or Henday either, so moving around the city should be straightforward.
On the news side: there's a referendum vote coming Monday in Alberta, and Airdrie residents are making noise about it ahead of time. Closer to home, there's a boil water advisory for about a hundred homes in Eagle Ridge and over at Heritage Park after a main line issue—if that's you, you'll have heard already, but worth knowing. Also worth knowing if you're in Okotoks—fuel's running about 11 cents a litre higher than here in Calgary, so fill up before you head that way if you're heading that way.
If you're thinking about brunch or lunch, there's a lot to chase. Luc's European Meats just opened a Calgary spot with a proper ceremonial cheese wheel that's worth a look. If you're in the mood for something warm, there's solid pho around town—several spots worth the detour if that's your thing. And if fondue and champagne sound like the Sunday move, a few spots downtown are doing that pairing well this fall.
For tonight, you've got three proper options. The Flames are home at the Saddledome at 6:00 PM against Carolina—that's your hockey night if you're in the mood. If comedy's more your speed, Danny Bhoy's at the Jack Singer at 7:00 PM. Or there's live music: Kwan Gor and Kayee Tam are playing the Grey Eagle at 7:00 PM. All solid Sunday evening moves.
Get out and enjoy the clear skies while you've got them. See you out there.
