Cold Saturday: Hockey, live music, and a ramen run before dark.

Alright, it's properly cold this morning. We're sitting at minus one, but the wind's making it feel more like minus five, so layer up if you're heading out early. Mostly cloudy overhead, UV's low, and we'll lose the light by 6:25 PM—keep that in mind if you're planning anything outdoors. You've got about ten hours of daylight to work with.

Nothing major on the road front today, but if you're heading out to the foothills, grab a quick check on conditions before you go. The rest of the city's moving normal Saturday pace.

It's worth knowing that public trust in city hall is sitting at an eight-year high—56% of folks are satisfied with how the municipality's running things. In other news, a construction worker got rescued after a 30-foot fall down a manhole in the northwest earlier this week, and work's about to kick off on a big new Northeast Athletic Complex up at 80th and Metis Trail. That's a $170.4M project, so expect changes in that area over the coming months.

If you're thinking lunch or dinner, you've got some solid options. There's a whole run of ramen spots worth the detour this fall if you want something warming—perfect weather for a bowl. If pizza's more your speed, spots like Pizza Culture, Noble Pie, and Sinatras are all worth a visit. And if you want something a bit spookier (it is late October, after all), there are restaurants doing the Halloween vibe right now with good food to match.

Tonight's the call, honestly. The Flames are home against Detroit at the Saddledome, puck drop at eight—that's your main event if you're into hockey. If live music's more your thing, you've got options: Kidum Kibido and Melanin Boy are playing at Pawn Shop Live starting at six, Dan Soder's doing comedy at The Laugh Shop at 6:30, and Brit Floyd (the Pink Floyd tribute) is at Grey Eagle at eight. Comedy or music, get yourself indoors before that cold really sets in—it's not the night to linger outside.

Stay warm out there.
