Former Canadian diplomats urge sanctions on Israel over Gaza, Lebanon
Scores of retired senior officials call for robust action and review of Canada-Israel trade agreement
Scores of former senior Canadian diplomats are calling on Prime Minister Mark Carney to impose "robust" sanctions on Israel over deteriorating conditions in Palestinian territories and Lebanon. In a letter to media outlets, the retired officials also urged the federal government to review Canada's trade agreement with Israel and issue notice that a strategic partnership agreement will be suspended if conditions don't improve. The letter cites Israel's restrictions on humanitarian aid reaching Gaza and increasing violence by armed groups in Lebanon.
