Canada's Dental Plan Has a Renewal Deadline June 1

Canadians enrolled in the Canadian Dental Care Plan must renew coverage before June 1 or lose benefits. Here's what you need to know.

If you're enrolled in the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP), mark your calendar: June 1 is your renewal deadline. Miss it, and your coverage ends June 30. You'll need to reapply to get back in, and any dental work done during the gap won't be covered or reimbursed.

The CDCP launched in 2023 to reduce dental costs for Canadians with a family net income under $90,000. For many Torontonians and residents across the country without access to private dental insurance, it's been a game-changer. But the renewal process isn't automatic—you have to actively renew through your Service Canada account or by phone.

To renew, you'll need to confirm or update personal details: your Social Insurance Number, CDCP member ID, date of birth, full name, address, and confirmation that you (and your spouse, if applicable) filed tax returns for the previous year. The process is straightforward and mostly online, but it requires action on your part.

You can renew through your My Service Canada Account (MSCA) online, through Service Canada's website, or by calling 1-833-537-4342. For Toronto residents and anyone else relying on this plan for dental care, staying on top of the renewal deadline is essential—one missed date can mean months of out-of-pocket costs.
