Friday's got range — catch Cirque, rock, or a soccer match — Montréal, June 5.

Good morning. You're waking to a Friday that feels like the weekend's already knocking — mostly cloudy, 17°C, and light hanging around till 8:39 PM. That's a solid 15 and a half hours to work with. The one practical thing: UV's sitting at 8.0, which is high, so even though it doesn't feel hot, give yourself sunscreen if you're heading outside. Grab a light layer for the morning; you'll shed it by afternoon.

Nothing's flagged on the commute front, so you're good to move through the city as normal.

On the local side of things, there's some noise worth knowing. The search for the missing Chelsea man didn't turn up what anyone was hoping for in the river search. Separately, threats against Quebec politicians have spiked 34 percent over the past year — worth knowing the state of things. And there's a proposal floating around to ban energy drinks for minors, which would be a first in Canada if it lands. On a lighter note, Loto-Québec's moved lottery ticket sales into self-checkout lanes now, so that's a change if you're in the dep grabbing a ticket.

If you're thinking food, today's the day to book yourself onto a patio if you haven't already. The weather's mild and light's long, so dinner outside makes sense. There's a bunch of summer terrasses opening up around Old Montréal and beyond — worth a call if you've got the evening in mind. And if you're in the mood for a burger that's getting real attention, there's a Canadian spot that just landed on a world's best list. Keep it in mind for the weekend.

Evening's got real range. If you're into spectacle, Cirque du Soleil's Echo opens tonight — there are shows both at the big top in the Old Port and out at Jacques Cartier Pier starting at 4 PM. If you want to catch the Orchestre Symphonique de Montreal, they've got a show at Place des Arts at 2:30 PM. Soccer's on too: Canada's men's national team plays Ireland in a friendly at Saputo Stadium at 7:30 PM — that's worth tuning in for. And if you want to go harder, Melo Festival's running a Friday pass out in Repentigny (18+), with an afterparty at Daddy Long Legs if you're still going at 11 PM. There's also a Pink Floyd tribute — Dark Side of the Moon — running at Le Dome at 5:30 PM. Pick your vibe and go.

Light holds till 8:39 PM, so you've got time to do something real tonight. Have a good one.
