Thursday's heat arrives — dress light, plan your evening early

It's warming up fast today — you'll want to ditch the layers. We're sitting at 22 with a humidity that'll push it to feel like 29, so if you're heading outside for lunch or a walk, go light. UV's running high at 9, so sunscreen's not optional. Sun's down at 8:43, so you've got a solid evening ahead if you're thinking of getting outside after work.

One thing to watch on your commute: Highway 136's closing all weekend for water main work, so if you use that route regularly, plan an alternative now. Won't bite you today, but good to know before Friday hits.

On the news side, cops arrested a suspect in that Plateau nightclub shooting that's been hanging over us, and Quebec just threw $24.1 million at school library renewals over the next three years — the kind of infrastructure quiet work that actually matters. Also worth knowing: the Quebec museum just rebranded to NAT and dropped their first lineup, if that's your world.

If you're thinking dinner, Montreal's pizza game is strong right now if you're willing to queue, and ice cream's calling on a day like this — locals have already voted their favourites if you need a shortcut. The ketchup Doritos are back too, if that's your thing.

Tonight's where it gets good. Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" is getting the full multimedia treatment at Le Dome — shows at 5:30 and 7 — and if you're more soul and R&B, "Only The Righteous" is bringing that heat to Le Balcon X Terrasse at 6. There's also a Led Zeppelin tribute (Kashmir) at Cabaret du Casino if you want to lean classic rock. Comedy and Cirque are in the mix too, so the evening's got options depending on what you're after. Most of it's indoor, which is smart because we're humid — terrasse spots will feel nice, but you'll want to be near a fan.

Weather's been cooler lately, so this bump to real warmth is welcome. Get outside if you can, but respect that UV. Tonight's yours to shape.

A bientôt.
