Last night before the Saint-Jean rush—get out if you're going.

Morning. It's 17°C, mostly cloudy, and that UV's running high at 8.0—you'll feel the sun if you're out at lunch, so don't skip the SPF just because it's not blazing. Sunset's at 8:47 tonight, so you've got plenty of daylight to work with, but the real news is what happens after dark.

Tonight's your last real chance to catch live music before tomorrow shuts the city down for Saint-Jean. Black Coffee's at Parc Jean-Drapeau at 5—outdoor spot, so weather's friendly. If you want something closer in, there's Mardi Latin Groove at Le Balcon X Terrasse at 7, or Les Misérables over at Theatre St. Denis at 7:30 if you're in the mood to sit down proper. And if you're staying up, MoBlack's going at New City Gas at 10 for the 18+ crowd. Pick your mood and go—come Wednesday, the whole city's going to be packed.

On the serious side, there's been a shooting in Côte-des-Neiges that claimed both a Montreal police officer and a civilian. It's a heavy morning in that corner of the city.

There's also some noise around a museum resignation tied to a Palestinian displacement exhibition—worth paying attention to if you follow those conversations.

The province just pumped $609.6M into the audiovisual industry with an eye toward younger creators, which is solid news for anyone making or wanting to make work here. And if you're into theatre, there's a stage adaptation of the '90s cult film La Florida that just opened in Terrebonne—worth a look if that's your lane.

For food, if you're hunting lunch or thinking about dinner, there's been some solid coverage lately on Montreal sandwich spots, bagel rankings from readers, and the best hot dogs in the city. There's also a new hiring app for the food sector that's already landed over 100 Montreal restaurants on it, so if you work in that world, worth knowing it exists.

Commute should be straightforward today—nothing major flagged. Get in, get your day done, and think about where you want to be tonight. Tomorrow everything changes.

Stay warm out there.
