Saint-Jean hits different—the city's yours to celebrate.

It's a holiday, it's warm enough, and Montreal's in full swing tonight. Get out there.

Saint-Jean hits different—the city's yours to celebrate.

Bonjour. It's Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day, which means most of you are off the clock and the city's got that particular energy—the kind where the whole place feels like it's moving together. We're at 16°C and mostly cloudy, so layer up a bit if you're heading out later, but the sun's sticking around until 8:47 PM, which gives you solid evening light to work with. UV's sitting at 7 (that's high), so if you're planning to be outside for a while, grab some sunscreen—especially if you're at the park or catching music somewhere.

On the local front, there's been a lot of noise in the news cycle over the past couple of days, and some of it's worth knowing. There's been false information spreading online about the shooting on Monday; people are talking, and not always accurately. What's real is that a civilian who was generous with his community is being remembered, and a police officer left behind a young child and a pregnant wife—that's the weight of what happened here.

On a lighter note, if you've been following Montreal's food conversations, there's a new hiring app just landed with over 100 restaurants signed on, which is solid news for anyone looking to move around the sector. And if you're in the bagel or hot dog mood, people have been weighing in on the best spots—always worth a read if you've got a favourite you're protective of.

For tonight, the city's got live music scattered all over. Black Coffee is running at Parc Jean-Drapeau starting at 5:00 PM, which is a good outdoor play if you want to catch the tail end of daylight with a crowd. If you're leaning jazz, Mercredi Live Jazz X Terrasse has Alain Oyono at Le Balcon starting at 6:00 PM. Oskar med k is at Beachclub at 7:00 PM if you want something heavier, and if theatre's calling, Les Misérables is at Theatre St. Denis at 7:30 PM.

This is the kind of day where you pick your vibe and ride it—whether that's live music somewhere, just being outside with people, or catching some of the circus energy if you're near the celebrations. The long weekend's just getting started, and the Jazz Fest is building this weekend too, so tonight's about feeling out what the city's got going.

Get out there. Stay warm enough, slap on the sunscreen, and enjoy the fact that most of us are here to do the same thing tonight.

À ce soir.
