Sunny Sunday—patio weather, Cirque, and the Tempo in town

It's a proper summer Sunday in MTL—17 degrees, sun, and you've got a solid 15 hours of daylight to work with. That UV's sitting at 7, so if you're heading to a patio or the park, sunscreen isn't optional. Sunset's 8:42 PM, which means you can stretch your evening if something catches you later.

On the roads, there's a motorcyclist seriously hurt from a three-vehicle crash over in Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension, so take it easy if you're driving that way. Nothing's closed, but slow down and stay sharp.

Outside the city, things are tense—there was a shooting at a street festival down in Toronto yesterday that killed two and hurt five, and there's a train derailment northeast of here still being worked on under federal eyes. Nothing that changes your Sunday, but the weight of it.

If you're thinking lunch or dinner, the city's ramen game is strong right now, and honestly, the rooftop patios are unbeatable on a day like this. Sun, city views, and a decent cocktail before the light goes soft. Four of our restaurants landed on Canada's top 10 new spots for 2026, and if you're into coffee, four local cafés made North America's top 100. That's worth hunting down.

For the evening, Cirque du Soleil's *Echo* is running at Jacques Cartier Pier at 1:30 PM if you want an afternoon show, or 5:00 PM if you're sleeping in. *Les Misérables* is at Théâtre St-Denis at 2:00 PM if Broadway's your speed. Tonight, the big one is the New York Liberty playing the Toronto Tempo at the Centre Bell at 3:00 PM—WNBA's got momentum here in MTL, and the Tempo just broke the regular-season attendance record, so expect buzz.

After dark, *Pink Floyd: Dark Side of the Moon* is running at Le Dôme at 5:30, 7:00, and 8:30 PM if you want to sink into something immersive and trippy. That'll take you through the soft light and into the night.

It's one of those Sundays where you've got options. Hit a patio while the sun's high, catch a show or a game, and let the evening sort itself. Weather's with you all day.
