Monday heat, clear skies, and Poppy tonight if you're game

It's 21 degrees this morning but it'll feel like 25 before lunch, so dress light if you're heading out. Partly cloudy all day, UV's running high at 7.0, which means sunscreen if you're spending time on the Mountain or a rooftop patio — this is the real deal, not the watered-down summer we got last year. You've got a long day ahead: sunset doesn't hit until 8:42 PM, so there's plenty of daylight to work with.

If you're commuting, there's some street signage work and lane reconfiguration happening today, so give yourself a touch more time than usual if you're driving or biking. Nothing catastrophic, but the usual Monday scramble is going to have a few more moving pieces.

Worth knowing this morning: the Montreal SPCA wrapped up a rescue of 121 animals from a neglect situation on the South Shore over the weekend — big operation, good outcome. Separately, there's been some chatter about the Berri Street bike path plan; the city's reviewing it after some safety concerns came up, so if you ride that corridor, stay tuned for updates.

Lunch and dinner options are solid right now. If you're thinking ramen, Montreal's got serious players — readers have been voting hard for it lately. And if you want something with a view, rooftop patios are where it's at this time of year: city views, cocktails, the whole thing. A few of the newer spots in town are already getting national attention too, so if you're hunting for something that feels fresh, there's plenty to choose from. Coffee heads should also know we've got some real standouts — four Montreal cafés cracked North America's top 100 list, so you're in good hands whether it's your first cup or your fourth.

Tonights, if you're into it, Poppy's headlining MTELUS at 7 PM with the Constantly Nowhere Tour — heavy alt, full volume, the kind of show where you leave with your ears ringing in a good way. It's indoors, so you're not banking on the weather holding.

Get some sun today if you can. It's one of those Mondays where the day actually cooperates.
