Sunday heat, Osheaga's last call, tennis all day.
Warm day ahead—catch the festival finale, watch the Open, or plan your evening around some seriously good live music.
It's warm out there: 22°C on the thermometer but it'll feel like 29° with the sun and mostly cloudy skies. UV's sitting at 6—that's high—so if you're heading outside for any stretch, throw the sunscreen on. You've got until 8:21 PM before dark, so there's plenty of daylight to work with.
Honors-Mercier Bridge is back to normal—repairs wrapped early, all lanes are open now. Keep an eye out starting tomorrow though: Route 136 eastbound closes August 3rd through the 6th for storm sewer work, so if you're usually that way for the commute come Monday, plan for downtown detours.
There's some stuff worth knowing in the neighbourhood. Police are investigating a suspected arson at Nöam kosher restaurant in Côte-des-Neiges. There's also been a stabbing in Hull and a shooting reported in Saint-Leonard that's under investigation—nothing you need to panic about, just the kind of thing you hear and stay aware.
If you're hungry, La Soupière on Ste-Catherine West has opened up with customizable Sichuan hot pot—that kind of thing is always worth trying. Café Saint-Henri also just opened a specialty spot on the Notre-Dame Basilica courtyard if you want something quieter. L'Express on Saint-Denis is always solid if you want that Parisian bistro feeling without the actual plane ticket. Quick heads-up though: Costco's recalling some Cadbury Oreo bars and Alfa Croissants over allergen and mould concerns, so check your stash if you picked any up.
This is the last day of Osheaga, and it's a big one—Lorde, Gunna, Major Lazer, Diplo later. If you're going, grab a Sunday pass. It's the kind of festival closer you don't want to miss.
Tennis is happening all day at the National Bank Open—Session 2 of the first round at the IGA Stadium and Rogers Court, starting at 11:00 AM if you want to catch some matches.
For tonight, you've got options. Cirque du Soleil's Echo is on at Jacques Cartier Pier at 5:00 PM. There's a Pink Floyd tribute—Dark Side of the Moon—at Le Dome at 5:30 PM if you're feeling that vibe. Feel the Magic is running at L'Olympia at the same time if you want something different. With the sun not setting until past 8, you can catch something during the day and still have time for a proper evening out.
It's a good Sunday. Get out there.
