Monday's got tennis, heat, and a few things to know

It's a warm one this morning—22 degrees but it'll feel more like 29, so dress light if you're heading out. Mostly cloudy, which'll help take the edge off the heat. Sun goes down at 8:20, so you've got a decent evening if you want to grab something after work. UV's sitting at 3, nothing to stress about.

If you're commuting in, watch for road work. There's planage and asphaltage happening around the city, plus some voie réaménagement, so give yourself a little extra time or find your usual workarounds. Nothing's been flagged as a full shutdown, but the usual Monday slowness might hit harder today.

Couple of things to know this morning. There was a truck fire that damaged the exterior of a mosque in Côte-des-Neiges over the weekend—cause is still being figured out. Same neighbourhood's dealing with a suspected arson at Nöam kosher restaurant; police are still investigating. Not the vibe we want to see, but worth knowing what's happening in the community.

On a lighter note, the Ville-Marie dog park got expanded after residents pushed for it during the construction. If you've got a dog and usually take them there, you've got more room to work with now.

Lunch-wise, if you're looking to try something new, there's a customizable Sichuan hot pot spot called La Soupière Malatang that just opened on Ste-Catherine West—good for a 5 à 7 if you're thinking of extending Monday into something social. L'Express over on Saint-Denis is still doing that whole Parisian bistro thing without the flight, if you want something reliable and warm. And Café Saint-Henri just opened a specialty spot right on the Notre-Dame Basilica courtyard—nice spot if you need somewhere quiet to sit with a coffee.

Heads up on one food recall: Costco's pulling Cadbury Oreo bars and Alfa Croissants over allergen and mould concerns, so check your kitchen if you picked any up recently.

Tennis takes over the evening—the National Bank Open (Omnium Banque Nationale) starts first-round play today at the IGA Stadium. Sessions at 11 in the morning and again at 6 and 7 p.m. on Rogers Court and Centre Court. If you're into it, it's a solid week ahead for catching some matches. Weather-wise, mostly cloudy is good for the courts, no glare issues.

If you're staying in tonight, there's a Pink Floyd experience floating around—Dark Side of the Moon kind of vibes if that's your speed. Theatre and multimedia stuff too if you want to get out of the house without the heat.

Stay cool, watch the construction, and enjoy the long daylight.
