Tennis, metal, and a new poutine spot—Tuesday's got moves

Morning. It's 18 degrees out there—warm enough you won't need the parka, but the UV's sitting at 7, which is high, so if you're out during lunch or heading to the courts, you're going to want sunscreen. Sunset's at 8:08 tonight, so you've got a solid 14 hours of daylight to work with. Partly cloudy, which means you'll catch some sun but nothing's going to get too heavy.

On the transit side, heads up: La Fontaine Tunnel's closing both directions Friday night for electrical repairs. It's not today, but if you're planning the end of your week or thinking about getting across to the South Shore, mark it down now so you're not scrambling come the weekend.

Quarterfinals are happening at the Omnium Banque Nationale today—the ATP men's action kicks off at 12:30 at both Centre Court and Rogers Court at IGA Stadium. If you've been following the tournament, this is where it gets real. The vibe at the stadium's always solid, and the courts are in good shape.

Food-wise: Ashton, the Quebec poutine chain, is opening in Montreal today if you've been curious. MUCHO Burrito's doing 2-for-1 burritos on Thursday the 14th, so that's worth bookmarking if you're thinking ahead. If you want something fancier, Jacopo in Vieux-Montréal's been making noise with tableside fettuccine cooked right inside a hollowed wheel of cheese—proper Italian theatre. La Soupière Malatang just landed on Ste-Catherine West with customizable Sichuan hot pot, so that's a solid new option if you're craving something with heat and control over what goes in the bowl.

Quick heads-up on recalls: Costco's pulling Cadbury Oreo bars and Alfa Croissants over allergen and mould concerns, so check your pantry if you grabbed either of those.

Tonight's got range. The quarterfinals continue at 4:00 and 6:00 if tennis is your thing—it'll still be light out, so the stadium atmosphere's going to be good. If you're leaning metal, Dimmu Borgir's at MTELUS at 7:00 with Hypocrisy and Hulder—that's indoor, obviously, so weather's not a factor. Les Mardis Latin Groove is happening at Le Balcon at 7:00 if you want something with rhythm and a terrace vibe. Pick your mood.

It's a regular Tuesday with teeth in it. Get out there.
