Monday drizzle, back-to-school on the mind, Deep Purple tonight

Rain's moving in soft this morning — 20°C, light drizzle the whole way through. Nothing heavy, just keep an umbrella in your bag. UV's at 5.0, so if you do see sun between the clouds, it'll still find you. Sunset's at 7:59 tonight, so you've got just over 14 hours of daylight to work with.

It's back-to-school week across MTL, and Sun Youth's already moving — they handed out 1,250 backpacks yesterday to families facing the climb of September costs. If you've got kids heading to class, the reality is hitting hard for a lot of households right now.

Worth knowing: two SQ officers got found guilty of racial profiling a driver from Mascouche — a real moment for accountability on that front. And there's a push happening in the Royal West for a permanent crossing guard at Westminster and Ainslie — parents want it locked in after years of asking. These are the kinds of wins that take time but matter.

If you're thinking lunch or dinner, MUCHO Burrito's still running their 20-year celebration with 2-for-1 burritos if you caught it in time. For something different, Jacopo over in Old Montréal's doing tableside fettuccine served right inside a hollowed wheel of cheese — the kind of thing worth a trip if you're in that mood. And heads up: Costco's recalling some Cadbury Oreo bars and Alfa Croissants over allergen and mould issues, so check your freezer if you grabbed any.

Tonight, if you're feeling it, Deep Purple and Kansas are at Place Bell starting at 6:45. It's a solid Monday-night move if you need to shake off the weekend and remember why live music matters. Otherwise, there's a late-night Bell Centre tour running if you want to walk the halls after dark — weird and low-key, if that's your speed.

Rain all day means you're staying covered, but the evening's clear enough if you head out. Either way, bundle up a bit — 20 and drizzle doesn't feel as warm as the number says.

Stay dry out there.
