Saturday cool-down: brunch, Pink Floyd, and Cuba vibes
It's a chilly one today — 13°C — but perfect for getting out and doing something.
Grab a sweater before you head out. We're down to 13 degrees this morning, partly cloudy, with UV sitting at 6 (pretty high, so sunscreen still matters). It's a real shift from the last few days — feels more like September's knocking. Sun's down at 7:38, so you've got good daylight for the day, but plan your evening around that.
On the taxi front: there's been some rough stuff happening on Saint-Laurent with unlicensed cabs. A couple got shaken up recently, and the industry's pointing at gaps in how things are regulated. Worth being careful if you're flagging something down late — stick with what you know, or use your phone.
If you're thinking brunch, Le Balcon's got Gospel Brunch with Imani Gospel Singers at 12:30 — that's a warm, live vibe if you want something with soul. Later, if you want Broadway energy, The Lion King's running at Place des Arts at 1:00 PM.
For dinner, there's some solid options coming through. If you're near Vieux-Montréal and want something theatrical, Jacopo's doing tableside fettuccine inside a hollowed wheel of cheese — it's one of those things worth experiencing once. And if you're in the mood for something fun and casual, MUCHO Burrito's still running their 20-year celebration with 2-for-1 burritos (August 14 was the date, but worth checking if it's still live).
Tonite's where it gets interesting. Le Dome's got two showings of Pink Floyd: Dark Side of the Moon — immersive experience, 4:00 PM and 5:30 PM — if you're into that kind of thing, it's worth it indoors given the cool. If Latin vibes are calling, Le Balcon's got Fiesta Cubana at 6:00 PM, and they've got a terrasse option too if the cool doesn't scare you off.
One heads-up on groceries: there's been a recall on raw breaded chicken and fish at five Viande à bas prix locations over missing cooking instructions. If you've grabbed anything like that recently, double-check what you've got at home.
It's a good Saturday for getting out — cold enough that you won't overheat, plenty of daylight, and there's real stuff happening. Go do something.
Cheers.
