Sunday's mild and live music's everywhere — get out.
Nineteen degrees, no rain, and the 514's got shows lined up all night.
Morning. It's warm for mid-September — 19°C and cloudy, which means you can ditch the jacket and actually enjoy being outside. You've got a solid twelve and a half hours of daylight, and sunset's at 7:10 PM, so plan your evening accordingly. UV's at 4 (moderate), so if you're spending the day on the Mountain or at one of the parks, sunscreen's still a good call.
Not much to worry about getting around today — it's Sunday, traffic's light. Just be extra careful on D'Iberville in Rosemont if you're heading that way; a four-year-old was hit by a car there, but the kid's stable. The usual street smarts apply.
On the heavier side: there's been an incident near Crémazie Boulevard where a 22-year-old was shot in an alley, and arson's investigating a possible connection. Also, a railway worker was killed near the Jacques-Cartier Bridge. It's the kind of stuff that reminds you the city's got edges — just noting it so you know what's in the news cycle.
If you're thinking brunch or lunch, Il Teatro just opened in the Quartier des Spectacles and they're doing proper Roman pasta and Italian wine — worth a look if you're in the mood. Fair warning though: Mini Danoise pastries are recalled for undeclared milk, eggs, and soya, so skip those if you've got them in the house. Same goes for raw breaded chicken and fish from Viande à bas prix — they're missing cooking instructions on five product lines.
Tonight's your night if you're into live music. MEHFIL's playing L'Olympia at 7:30 — world sounds, good energy. If you want something more electronic, Prospa's at Parc Jean-Drapeau starting at 4:00 PM (outdoor, so the cloud cover's actually decent for that). Serge Fiori's got a show at Théâtre St-Denis at 8:00 PM if you're after indie folk. French Police are at Le Foufounes Electriques at 8:00 if rock's your lane. Pick your vibe — there's enough going on that you won't feel rushed.
Weather's holding, so if you're catching anything outdoors, you'll be comfortable. Just remember sunset's early, so plan your exit before dark.
Enjoy the warmth while it lasts. See you around.
