Cool Saturday—pick your vibe, stay warm out there
Seven degrees and clear skies. Live music, hockey, and a Pink Floyd trip tonight. Heads up on Highway 30.
It's crisp this morning—7°C, mainly clear, and we're down to just over 12 hours of daylight now that we're pushing toward fall. You'll want a jacket if you're heading out, especially once the sun drops at 6:58 PM. The UV's still decent at 5.0, so if you're catching the daytime stuff, you're not getting burned at this angle.
If you're driving west on Highway 30 through Varennes, mobile photo radar's live in the construction zone now—nothing new there, just the heads-up. Standard Saturday traffic, but worth knowing.
There's some noise on the South Shore—a vigil's planned for Monday for Nooran Rezayi, 15, who was shot by Longueuil police. Worth being aware of it. Also this week, Quebec's dropping vaccine-baited pellets from helicopters across three regions to fight raccoon rabies, so if you're out in the country or hit the Laurentians, you might see that. Don't touch anything on the ground.
On the food front, heads up if you grabbed Mini Danoise pastries lately—there's a recall for undeclared milk, eggs, and soya. And if you shop at Viande à bas prix, some raw breaded chicken and fish got recalled over missing cooking instructions at five locations. Check what you've got at home. If you're looking to eat out, Il Teatro just opened in the Quartier des Spectacles—proper Roman pasta and wine if that's calling you. Or there's Dinner Date at Le Bateau-Mouche down in the Old Port if you want something different.
Tonight's got real range. Pink Floyd's doing a full immersion of *Dark Side of the Moon* at Le Dome—two shows, 4 PM and 5:30 PM, if you want to sink into that. RuPaul's at Parc Jean-Drapeau at 5:00 PM (indoor or outdoor depending on your tolerance for 7 degrees). There's also Fiesta Cubana with live music at Le Balcon X Terrasse at 6:00 PM if you want something with heat and rhythm. Hockey's also firing—Val-d'Or Foreurs and Blainville-Boisbriand go at it at 4:00 PM if you're into the QMJHL.
Weather's holding clear through the evening, so if you're catching anything outside, you're good—just layer up. Sunset's early, so plan accordingly.
Stay warm out there. Text if you need anything.
