Monday morning: 11 degrees, live music tonight, watch what you're eating
Start the week sharp—cool commute ahead, a couple things to know, and four solid gigs to catch if you're feeling it.
Okay, so it's properly fall now. Eleven degrees this morning, mostly cloudy, UV's at 5 so you're not getting burned but don't sleep on sunscreen if you're outside a while. Sun's down at 6:54, so plan your evening around that if you're heading out—gives you a decent window for a weeknight show if that's your move.
Commute-wise, nothing major flagged for today, so you should be good on the usual routes. Just the regular Monday energy.
Couple things worth knowing: there was a stabbing downtown yesterday—37-year-old's been arrested after an altercation with a 42-year-old. And over on Verdun Street, a restaurant got hit by arson over the weekend; someone threw an incendiary device. Not your everyday Monday, but the city keeps moving.
On a lighter note, Marlen Reusser won the world time trial championship yesterday, and she did it on her birthday—that one happened right here in Montreal, which is pretty cool.
Food-wise, if you're grabbing lunch or thinking dinner, Il Teatro's been making noise in the Quartier des Spectacles with proper Roman pasta and wine. Worth the trip if you're in that neighbourhood. One heads-up though: Mini Danoise pastries have been recalled for undeclared allergens (milk, eggs, soya), so if you've got those sitting around, check the box. And if you hit any of the Viande à bas prix spots, their raw breaded chicken and fish got pulled for missing cooking instructions—five locations affected. Just skip those for now.
Tonight's got some solid energy if you want to get out. You've got death metal at L'Olympia (Dying Fetus and Sanguisugabogg, 6:30), The Charlatans UK at Theatre Fairmount at 8, and Bad Nerves down at Le Studio TD, also at 8. Weeknight shows, so nothing too late if you've got work early. Weather's cool but dry, so it'll be decent for getting to wherever you're headed—just grab a layer.
It's a Monday, so keep it simple, watch the food recalls if you're shopping, and if you need a break from the day, there's a show waiting for you.
Have a good one.
