Clear Thursday before the road work starts piling up
Crisp morning, a couple of heads-ups for the weekend commute, and live music waiting for tonight.
It's 8°C and clear out there—grab a layer if you're heading out early, and you've got a solid twelve hours of daylight before the sun drops at 6:48. The UV's moderate at 5.0, so no surprises on that front.
A heads-up on the roads: Highway 13's going to start shutting down this Sunday for a five-week rebuild of the Highway 520 overpass, so if that's part of your regular route, now's the time to think about alternatives. Then next week—September 28 through October 7—the Highway 15 service road closes for paving. Nothing hitting the commute today, but worth marking your calendar if either of those is in your orbit.
Locally, an STM bus hit three vehicles and two patios in NDG yesterday with minor injuries reported—one of those mornings that reminds you to stay alert at intersections. On the health side, St. Mary's Hospital's pouring $16.3 million into their emergency department renovation, which is good news if you ever need it.
If you're thinking lunch, just be careful: there's a Sakana-Ya recall on sushi products with undeclared mustard across Quebec, and Mini Danoise pastries got pulled for undeclared milk, eggs, and soya. Check your fridge if you picked up either one recently. Raw breaded chicken and fish from five Viande à bas prix locations are also recalled for missing cooking instructions, so steer clear if that's where you shop.
Tonight's got some real options if you're in the mood. There's Bayway at Le Foufounes Electriques at 6:30 if you want live indie, Shaboozey over at Place Bell at 7—that's the Outlaws Never Die Tour—and the Orchestre Symphonique de Montreal at Place des Arts at 7:30 if you're leaning quieter. The weather's holding clear, so if you're heading out it'll be a nice night, just bring a jacket. Sun's down before 7, so plan accordingly.
It's a regular Thursday—nothing wild, just the city ticking over. Head out with your eyes open on the roads, grab dinner somewhere careful, and if the evening calls for it, there's music waiting.
