Thursday's mild and clear—but the REM's got other plans.

Decent weather for getting around, except the transit gods aren't cooperating. Plus: election week moves ahead, and plenty to do tonight.

Thursday's mild and clear—but the REM's got other plans.

Alright, 15 degrees and mainly clear—you can ditch the heavy jacket today. That's a solid October morning, especially with the sun hanging around until 6:35 PM. UV's at 5, which is moderate, so if you're out for lunch or a walk on the Mountain, sunscreen's still worth it. Last few days were grittier, so this one's a gift.

Here's the thing though: the REM is completely in the weeds this morning. No clear word on which trains are running or where they're headed—classic move. If you're counting on it to get downtown or across the island, give yourself extra time or think about the métro instead. Not ideal on a regular Thursday, but at least the weather means the walk won't kill you.

On the news front, we're six days out from the October 5 election, and the Liberals are pushing hard on housing and telehealth in their final stretch. Nothing's locked in yet, so if you haven't voted or decided, there's still time to figure it out.

For food, heads up that restaurants across Canada have been raising prices through 2026—about 80% of them did it already, and roughly half are planning more hikes next year. So yeah, eating out's gotten pricier. If you're looking for something tonight, Il Teatro just opened in the Quartier des Spectacles with proper Roman pasta and Italian wine if that's calling your name. Also watch out for a couple of recalls: Sakana-Ya Sushi products have undeclared mustard, and there's a frozen dessert recall out of Victoriaville for allergen issues—check your fridge if either rings a bell.

Tonight's got something for everyone. Two Door Cinema Club and STRFKR are playing MTELUS at 8—indie rock energy if you want to shake off the week. If you're in the mood for something fancier, Turandot's on at Place des Arts at 7:30, which is proper opera. There's also live jazz and world music at Le Studio TD at 7, and Ladies Night Out at the Casino if you want to keep it loose. Pick your vibe and get out of the house—it'll be clear all evening.

Stay warm out there, and let me know if the REM sorts itself out by afternoon.
