Friday's locked in — shows, sun dip at 6:20, and a couple things to know.

Morning. It's 9°C out there and cloudy—layer up for the day, but keep an eye on the light. Sun's down by 6:20, so if you're heading out after work, you'll want to think about that timing now. UV's at 3.0, so you're not going to burn, but the daylight's already cut short this time of year.

Nothing major blocking the streets this morning, so your commute should move.

Few things worth knowing as you settle in. Stephen Jarislowsky, the investor and philanthropist who shaped a lot of how this city thinks about money and giving, died this week at 101—he was a real fixture in Montreal's world. On a heavier note, there's been some violence in the region this week: a 16-year-old arrested after an armed assault in Hull, and two others—including a 14-year-old—picked up after a jewelry store robbery and a collision in Anjou. Also worth a heads-up: if you've grabbed any frozen desserts from Victoriaville or sushi products from Sakana-Ya across Quebec lately, there are recalls out for undeclared allergens and mustard. Check what you've got at home.

One more thing that landed this week—turns out 40 percent of Quebec voters turned to AI chatbots for election info, and a lot of them got fed straight-up false answers. Worth remembering if you're scrolling for facts.

On the food side, restaurants are still squeezing prices. About 80 percent raised them in 2026 already, and half are looking at doing it again next year. It's not getting cheaper to eat out, me, I think. If you're looking to grab dinner tonight, Il Teatro opened up in the Quartier des Spectacles and they're doing Roman—real Italian wine and pasta if that's your thing.

For tonight: you've got three solid options if you want to get out. The Smashing Pumpkins are at the Centre Bell at 7:00—that's the big one if you're into it. Over at L'Olympia, Josh Thomas is doing JIGGLE, JIGGLE (comedy, if you need a laugh), also at 7:00. And if you want something electronic and a bit looser, Meduza's playing Parc Jean-Drapeau starting at 5:00. Pick your vibe and go—it's Friday.

Have a solid one. Text me if you find something good.
