Cold snap Saturday: brunch, shows, and the Habs tonight.

It's a crisp one this morning—3°C and mainly clear, which means you'll want a jacket if you're heading out. Sunset's at 6:06 PM, so plan your day with that in mind. Tonight it's dropping enough that frost advisory's in effect, so if you've got plants outside, bring them in or cover them up before bed. The UV's sitting at 3, so you're not getting burned, but the cold is real.

If you're driving anywhere today, heads up: the reconstruction on the Cavendish overpass is still going, and there are some bigger bridge and highway closures hitting the area through October 19, so check your route before you head out. Nothing catastrophic, but worth a second look.

Word of caution on a couple of things: there's been some TikTok nonsense going around—the lug nut challenge—and it's actually loosened wheels on cars around Quebec. Three crashes so far. Check yours before you drive. Also, if you've got any freeze-dried fruit sticks from Néo Chips or hummus from Marché Sultan on Rue Jarry, toss them—recalls are out for possible contamination. And there's a bakery recall in Montreal-North over possible wood in the products. Not ideal, but just check what you've got at home.

If you're thinking brunch, there's a Gospel brunch with Michelle Sweeney & The Gospel Tribe at Le Balcon at 12:30 PM—solid way to start the day warm inside. For lunch or dinner, there's a new onigiri spot that just opened near Métro Snowdon if you want something different. Restaurants across Canada have been raising prices all year, and half are planning more hikes next year, so enjoy what you can find at decent prices while it lasts.

Tonight's got real range. The Habs are playing Buffalo at the Centre Bell at 7:00 PM—game day energy in the rink. If hockey's not your thing, there's live music everywhere: DJ_Dave at Bar Le Ritz PDB at 7, Louis-Jean Cormier at the Maison Symphonique at 7:30, or if you want to get away from it all, *Mamma Mia!* is running at Place des Arts at both 1:00 PM (matinee) and 7:30 PM. There's also comedy at the Casino with Lama at 7:30 PM.

It's a Saturday with teeth to it—cold enough to keep you moving, warm enough indoors with a crowd. Pick your vibe and get out there.

Stay warm, check your tires.
