Sunday's cold snap calls for layers and live music.

It's a chilly one out there—grab a coat, catch a show, watch your wheels.

Sunday's cold snap calls for layers and live music.

It's dropped to 2°C this morning, so pull the heavy stuff out of the closet. We're looking mostly cloudy, but it's the cold that'll bite—layer up if you're heading out, especially if you're planning to spend time outside. Sun dips at 6:04, so if you're thinking of catching anything in daylight, get moving earlier rather than later.

Few things to clock before you leave the house. There's a province-wide traffic safety operation running through October 22—police and wardens are out, so keep it clean. More pressingly, if you drive: there's been some stupid stuff going around with the TikTok lug nut challenge, and wheels are actually coming loose on people's cars. Three have crashed already. Take ten seconds and give yours a visual once-over if you haven't lately.

Also watch it if you're near the bridges and major highways through tomorrow—there are closures hitting the Montreal area today through October 19. Check your route if you're heading anywhere that direction.

On the food front, a few recalls are live: the Montreal-North bakery's pulled all its products over possible wood contamination, and there's a hummus recall for Marché Sultan on Rue Jarry (E. coli concern). Freeze-dried fruit sticks from Néo Chips are out too if you've got them at home. If you're stocking up or planning a meal, just double-check what's in your kitchen.

Tonight's got real options depending on what you're after. If you want something theatrical, Mamma Mia! is running at Place des Arts at 7:30—that's the fun musical escape if you want to leave the cold outside for a couple hours. There's also Eli Brown doing his thing at Parc Jean-Drapeau starting at 4:00 this afternoon if electronic music and daylight work for you, though it'll be cold standing around outside. On the heavier end, Igorrr and Secret Chiefs 3 are at MTELUS tonight at 7:30 if you're into something more experimental and loud.

If you want to ease in with a matinee first, Mamma Mia! has a 1:00 PM showing, or Passe-Partout is at Théâtre Manuvie at 3:00 if you're after something different.

Bundling up is the move today—the cold's real, but there's plenty to do indoors or a quick dash to catch something live. Stay warm out there.
