Monday clear and cool — watch the commute, catch some live music.

Pont Honoré-Mercier is back open, the roads are mostly clear, and there's good stuff to do tonight if you want to get out.

Monday clear and cool — watch the commute, catch some live music.

It's 6°C this morning, clear skies, and you've got a solid ten and a half hours of daylight before sunset hits at 6:02 PM. Not bad for mid-October — grab a coffee and a light jacket for the commute in. UV's at 3, so if you're outside most of the day, you're fine, but sunglasses wouldn't hurt.

Commute-wise, the Pont Honoré-Mercier is back in action after emergency repairs to the steel beams, so that's one less worry if you cross the river regularly. There's road work happening around the city — réfection de la chaussée in a few spots — but nothing that's going to wreck your morning. Take your usual route; just give yourself a breath of extra time if you're heading through a construction zone.

On the real: the CAQ got completely wiped in the October 5 election, and Mathieu Lévesque is stepping in as interim leader while they figure out what's next. Police and traffic wardens across the province are also running a safety operation through the 22nd, so keep your head on a swivel out there.

On the food front, there've been some recalls you should know about. Montreal-North bakery products are off the shelves over possible wood contamination, Néo Chips' freeze-dried fruit sticks are being pulled for possible dried stem fragments, and if you grabbed hummus from Marché Sultan on Rue Jarry, check your fridge — possible E. coli issue. Restaurants across Canada are still jacking up prices, too, if you've noticed your takeout bill creeping up. It's not getting cheaper.

Tonight's a good one if you want to move around a bit. Castle Rat's bringing their Summon The Beasts Tour to the Beanfield Theatre at 7:30 PM, Gilla Band's at Theatre Fairmount at 8:00 PM, and Girl Band's hitting Bar le Ritz PDB at 8:00 PM. Pick your vibe. It's clear outside so you've got no weather excuses — just dress for the cold.

Mondayitis is real, but at least there's music to look forward to tonight. Get through the day, grab a ramen or something warm after work, and catch a set if you're in the mood. The week's just starting.
