Tuesday, 6 degrees, clear skies—and the Habs are home tonight

Morning's yours—it's 6°C and clear out there, so dress in layers if you're heading out early. Sun's down by 6, which sneaks up faster every day this time of year, so plan accordingly if you've got evening plans. UV's at 3, nothing to sweat.

Commute-wise, you're good today. The Pont Honoré-Mercier is back open after those emergency steel repairs, so if that's your route, you're set. Heads up for the weekend though—Highway 25 tunnel's closing all directions for electrical and safety work, so if you're planning to head south to the South Shore or up to Laval come Saturday or Sunday, route around it now and save yourself the stress.

A couple things to know this week: there's a city strike on—3,000 Montreal city professionals are out indefinitely over pay and telework issues, so if you've got business at city hall or need permits, give yourself extra time. Nothing's moving fast right now. Also, if you grabbed anything from Montreal-North bakery recently, check what you bought—they issued a recall over possible wood contamination in their products. Same with Néo Chips' freeze-dried fruit sticks (dried stem fragments) and hummus from Marché Sultan on Rue Jarry (possible E. coli)—worth double-checking your fridge.

For lunch or dinner, heads up that restaurants across Canada jacked prices in 2026, and half are planning more hikes next year. The 3 Amigos Pink Menu's running this October as a fundraiser for breast cancer research if you're in the mood to eat well and give back at the same time.

Tonight's the Habs game—San Jose Sharks at the Bell at 7. If you're not catching it live, it's a good work-night excuse to slip into a bar or someone's place. Beyond that, the live music scene's got some solid options if you want to catch something between 7 and 10—places like L'Olympia and Theatre Fairmount have shows going, so you can dip in after work without it eating your whole evening.

Stay warm out there, and I'll catch you tomorrow.
