Cold, clear Thursday, so bundle up and bring your sunglasses

Two degrees and bright skies, with a few road and food-recall items worth knowing before you head out.

Cold, clear Thursday, so bundle up and bring your sunglasses

Morning, neighbours. It's a crisp one out there: 2°C and clear, so the sky is doing its part even if the air isn't. Dress in layers, and if you're walking the Main or heading up the Mountain, bring a hat and a scarf. The UV is only a 3, so sunscreen can stay in the bag, but those sunglasses will be doing a lot of work on the glare. The good news is you've got a generous 10 hours and 17 minutes of daylight, with the sun setting at 5:46 PM, so anything you're planning after work still has plenty of light to get you there.

If you're driving, keep an eye on the potholes. Plenty of us are bracing for another winter on roads that are already rough, so give yourself a little extra room and take the corners gently. And if you're near Jean-Talon, you'll want to know that merchants there say the Blue Line work is squeezing them hard, so if you have a favourite stall on your route, it's a nice day to stop in and show some love.

On the local front, Quebec is moving toward ending clock changes, though consultations will come before any date gets set, so don't go rearranging your life just yet. Nathalie Simard has been speaking out against online hate after a Facebook group mocked her childhood assault, and it's a story many of us are talking about. Montréal's Indigenous leaders also say the premier's absence from the Ottawa summit sends a message, and they're not shy about saying so.

For eats, a few food safety notes are worth your attention. Six Amir locations across Quebec were fined $12,500 for food safety violations over the past year, so if you're a regular, you might want to check the latest. Boulangerie Richard has recalled its pâtés for undeclared wheat and fish allergens across Quebec, and a Montreal-North bakery has recalled all its products over possible wood contamination. If you've got any of those at home, check before you eat. And Néo Chips' freeze-dried fruit sticks are under recall for possible dried stem fragments. On a happier note, Alfred Le Fermier Grand Cru just took the crown at the 26e Sélection Caseus, le concours des fromages du Québec, so a cheese board tonight might be exactly the move.

Tonight is a big one for live music and comedy. Charles Brunet is at L'Olympia at 7:00 PM with his Très Très Bon Show, and Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal plays Place des Arts at 7:30 PM. If you want something louder, After at Bar Le Ritz PDB kicks off at 7:00 PM. With the cold settling in, all of these are indoor options, so you're covered either way. Looking ahead, the weekend brings Sleeping With Sirens with Rain City Drive, another Sting show, comedy, and some K-pop, so there's a lot to pick from.

Have a good one, and stay warm out there. See you on the métro.
