Montreal actress Sophie Nélisse is starring in a new Netflix romantic series. The Summer Will Be Different, adapted from Carley Fortune's bestselling novel, will feature Nélisse as Lucy, a woman in her twenties experiencing her first love—with the one person she was never supposed to fall for: her best friend's brother.
The story unfolds across multiple summers on Prince Edward Island. Filming will take place both on the island and in Toronto. The Summer Will Be Different is produced by Montreal-based production company Sphère Média. Netflix has not announced a release date.
Nélisse recently starred in the Canadian series Heated Rivalry, which became a global phenomenon. She has also been part of the HBO series Yellowjackets since 2021.
