Montreal's Italian Contemporary Film Festival is back, offering free outdoor screenings of contemporary Italian cinema every Wednesday until August 26 at Parc Dante in the Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie borough, starting at 9 p.m.

All films come with French or English subtitles. The program spans multiple genres and includes two Thursday showings: one at the Centre Leonardo Da Vinci on August 13 and one at Parc Saint-Viateur in Outremont on August 20.

Notable films include the sports drama Il Maestro (My Tennis Maestro) on August 5 and 20, the comedy U.S. Palmese on August 12, and La Grazia (Grace), the latest project by BAFTA Award-winning director Paolo Sorrentino, on August 19.

Festival director Francesco Esposito described the event as more than just cinema: "The reason why we are here is to live an experience. So, when people come at Parc Dante, the idea is to be in an Italian piazza." Stands serve pasta, ice cream, and wine, creating a community atmosphere for attendees of all backgrounds.

The festival was scheduled to kick off on July 1 with a screening of Paolo Virzì's Cinque secondi (Five Seconds), but that showing was cancelled due to rain. The season officially opened on July 8 with a performance by multilingual singer-songwriter Daniela Fiorentino. Cathy Fuoco will perform her comedy show "My Italian Family" on July 29, a set designed to resonate across cultural communities.
