A child with measles passed through Montreal-Trudeau International Airport on October 9 while contagious, then visited Sainte-Justine hospital's emergency department on October 10 in the same condition. Montreal Public Health has issued warnings for both locations.

Measles is highly contagious. Anyone exposed who is not vaccinated must isolate per public health guidance. Some exposed people may receive direct contact from regional public health with recommendations; Quebec authorities advise checking the list of exposure sites regularly as details may change during the investigation.

Measles can lead to blindness, encephalitis, pneumonia and death. Main symptoms include high fever, cough, runny nose, and a rash that starts on the face and spreads to the rest of the body. Public Health has not disclosed the child's vaccination status, where the child contracted measles, or specific times at each location.
