Transport Quebec is warning drivers to expect major closures on Highway 136 this weekend as the City of Montréal carries out maintenance and inspection work on a water main.

From 10 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday, eastbound Highway 136 will be closed, along with ramps from de la Cathédrale Street, Notre-Dame Street, and Robert-Bourassa Boulevard.

Detours will be in place, though work may be postponed due to bad weather or operational issues. Drivers should check Québec 511 before heading out.

The closure affects a critical commuter corridor, so anyone planning to cross downtown or head south over the weekend should plan extra time and consider alternate routes.
