Leylah Fernandez won the Singapore Tennis Open on Sunday, Sept. 28, defeating Australia's Talia Gibson 7-5, 6-0 in a match that lasted 1 hour 38 minutes.
The young player from Laval, ranked No. 31, secured her sixth career WTA title and second WTA 500 designation. It was Fernandez's first final of the season. Of her six career titles, three have been won in Asia, including her most recent one at the Japan Open last October.
