Nine government benefits and credits are hitting Quebec bank accounts in October, with a grocery benefit arriving next week for low-income households.
The payments come through multiple routes: Revenu Québec administers the Solidarity Tax Credit and Work Premium Tax Credits; the Canada Revenue Agency handles federal credits; and Société d'habitation du Québec manages the Shelter Allowance Program.
The Solidarity Tax Credit goes to individuals and families with modest incomes. If your total annual amount is $240 or less, it was deposited in July. If it's $241 to $799, you get four quarterly payments — the next one arrives October 5, 2026. Monthly payments through June 2027 come if your total is $800 or more. You qualify as a single person if your family income was $64,545 or less on December 31, 2025; couples and families have higher thresholds.
The Work Premium Tax Credit encourages staying or returning to work on limited income. You needed earned income over $2,400 in 2025 (or $3,600 for couples) to qualify. Maximum credits reach $1,185.52 for a single person, $3,066 for a single-parent family, $1,848.34 for a couple with no kids, and $3,983.50 for a couple with at least one child. Eligible family income thresholds range $24,475 to $59,369 depending on your situation. An extra $200 monthly goes to people transitioning from last-resort financial assistance into a job, for up to 12 consecutive months. The October advance payment arrives by October 15, 2026.
The Shelter Allowance Program offers monthly help to low-income individuals and families, including people living alone starting at age 50 and single parents. Monthly assistance reaches $100, $150, or $170 depending on income, housing costs, and household makeup. A new calculation period runs October 1, 2026 through September 30, 2027.
All programs use direct deposit when you've set it up — automatic deposits with no extra paperwork needed.
